About the event
Featuring two of Australia's rising star cellists, Rachel Siu and Paul Ghica, this program concludes the festival with an intimate and dramatic performance.
Programme:
- Brahms: Quintet in F minor Op.34
- Schubert: String Quintet in C major D956
Brahms' Piano Quintet in F minor was originally scored for two cellos, then destroyed by the composer and rewritten for piano and strings. Painstakingly recreated by a musicologist, this will be Australia's first public performance of the original two-cello version of Brahms Quintet in F minor.
Franz Schubert's final piece of chamber music, String Quintet in C major, is widely regarded as one of the greatest chamber works ever composed.
